Eldorado takes down Vienna/Goreville in battle of Eagles

ELDORADO – Eldorado scored on its first six possessions to build a big lead by halftime then cruised to a 42-16 win over Vienna/Goreville in the battle of Eagles.

Eldorado racked up 337 total yards of offense on the way to a 42-8 lead at halftime. Once again, senior quarterback Parker Price took over with runs of 43, 26 and 34 yards in the first half, the latter for a touchdown. Price, who did not play in the fourth quarter, finished the game with 144 yards on 8 carries.

Josh Owens scored on runs of 13 and 18 yards, finishing with 65 yards on six carries for Eldorado. Owens also caught three passes for 93 yards. Josh Phelps added a pair of touchdown runs for the Eagles of the purple and gold variety.

Eldorado held the Black Diamond Conference’s leading receiver, Ian Sopczak, to 84 yards on four catches, with 58 of those yards coming on a fourth quarter reception.
