Eldorado holds off Hamilton County for Homecoming win

ELDORADO — For years, Week 5 in the Black Diamond Conference has been Rivals Week. With teams moving into and out of the conference through the years, not every matchup has the true rivalry feel.

That is not the case when Hamilton County and Eldorado get together.

Parker Price ran threw for a touchdown and ran in another helping the Eagles made it a rivalry and Homecoming game winner, beating the Foxes 22-13.

Both offenses struggled most of the first half, until Price connected with Josh Owens for a 49-yard touchdown. Ashton Robinson added the two-point conversion giving the Eagles an 8-0 lead at the half.

It stayed that way until early in the fourth. Hamilton County got on the board courtesy Braden Flannigan’s touchdown pass to Wyatt Richards, but the Foxes’ two-point conversion attempt failed.

Price answered two plays later with a 58-yard TD run. The Eagles added the two-point conversion to push their lead to 16-6. The Foxes made it three touchdowns in 1:29 as Zach Wheeler ripped off a 56-yard TD run. The extra point made it a 16-13 game with 10:03 to play.

The Eagles then methodically marched down the field for the clinching score, a 1-yard plunge from Robinson capping an 8:22 drive.

Both teams are now 2-3. The Eagles will host Sesser-Valier/Waltonville Friday night, a game you can listen to on WEBQ FM. The Foxes will travel to Flora. You can hear that one on WMCL. Both games will be streamed on Section618.com and the Section618 app.
