Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week nominees

Voting is now open and will run through noon Friday for this week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week.

Here are the nominees:
Nolan Causey, Johnston City: The sophomore had 3 interceptions and a fumble recovery on defense and caught a 31-yard TD pass in the Indians’ 36-20 win over Flora.

Brock Chelf, S-V/Waltonville: The senior rushed 10 times for 176 yards with 2 TDs and caught a 36-yard TD pass in the Red Devils’ 49-12 win over Central A&M.

Devon Clemons, Murphysboro: The senior rushed 22 times for 233 yards with 3 TDs and caught 1 pass for 21 yards in the Red Devils’ 41-28 win over Columbia.

Hollan Everett, NCOE: The senior tallied 15 kills, 7 blocks, and 5 aces to help the Fighting Cardinals to 2 wins and the NCOE 1A Regional championship.

Connor Freeze, Breese Central: The senior rushed 27 times for 169 yards with a TD and was 7-17 for 94 yards passing with another TD in the Cougars’ 21-18 win over Mt. Zion.

Gavin Genisio, Benton: The junior won medalist honors at the Benton 1A Cross Country Sectional with a time of 13:47.

Amir Johnson, Centralia: The senior rushed 23 times for 133 yards with 2 TDs, recorded 4 tackles, and returned a fumble 42 yards for another TD in the Orphans’ 27-14 win over Triad.

Dylon Nalley, Marion: The junior won medalist honors at the Glenwood 2A Cross Country Sectional with a time of 14:06 to win by :56.

Paige Thies, Trico: The junior tallied 15 kills and a block to help the Lady Pioneers to 2 wins and the Z-R 1A Regional championship.

Reese Varel, Nashville: The senior tallied 16 kills, 4 blocks, and 3 aces to help the Hornettes to 2 wins and the Chester 2A Regional championship.

Bailey Williams, Marion: The senior tallied 17 kills to help the Lady Wildcats to 2 wins and the Olney 3A Regional championship.
