ELDORADO — A pair of Black Diamond–East schools closed out the opening round of the 58th Annual Eldorado Holiday Tournament with wins, as sixth-seeded Eldorado downed West Frankfort 65-46, and third-seeded Carmi-White County took care of Hardin County 71-39.
Eldorado led by only four late in the first half but was able to extend that lead to 45-32 after three quarters and cruised to the 19-point win. Parker Price led four Eagles in double figures with 22 points. Josh Owens added 19, Austin Bradley 14, and Jake Phelps 10.
Cole Buckingham led the Redbirds with 13.
Carmi-White County scored the first 14 points on the way to a 31-4 lead after one quarter leading to a 32-point win. Landon Driscoll led a balanced Bulldog attack with 16 points. Mitchel Edwards and Gavin Holloman added 15 points apiece with Bryce Connor chipping in 10.
Hardin County freshman Landon Fricker led all scorers with 20.
The Eagles will face the Bulldogs in the final quarterfinal, approximately 8:30 Tuesday night.
