Centralia uses late run to beat Herrin for West Frankfort title

WEST FRANKFORT — The Centralia Orphans used a 15-2 run over the third and fourth quarters to overcome Herrin and win the 36th West Frankfort Mid-Winter Classic 42-37.

Centralia sophomore Dustyn Collins led all scorers with 15 points. Daryle Jones added 14, and Cruz Harlan scored all 7 of his points during the Orphans’ run in the fourth quarter.

Exavier Williams led the Tigers with 12 with Haydon Mayer adding 10.

West Frankfort defeated Cairo 67-58 prior in the third place game.

Collins, Jones, and Harlan from Centralia along with Mayer, Jonathan Harrison, and Reese Billingsley from Herrin, and Jack Hogg from West Frankfort were all named to the All-Tournament Team.
