Crab Orchard, NCOE advance to GEC Tournament Championship

HARRISBURG — The top two seeds will play for the championship at the Greater Egyptian Conference Tournament Saturday night at SIC.

Top-seeded Crab Orchard jumped out to an 18-4 lead over No. 4 seed Gallatin County after one quarter and never looked back, cruising to a 63-46 win. Trojans senior Brinnen Norris led all scorers with 16 points. Teammate Robby Rooker added 11.

Rylie Rushing led the way for the Hawks with 15 points. Noah Richardson added 12.

NCOE, the No. 2 seed, used a big second quarter to seize control against the sixth seed, Hardin County. The Fighting Cardinals outscored the Cougars 14-4 in the second to lead 35-20 at the half. After Hardin County closed with 11 at 38-27 in the third quarter, NCOE scored 10 straight points to put it away.

The Fighting Cardinals were led by senior Colby Prather who hit five 3s and finished with a game high 17 points. Javan Garrett and Joel Hortin each tallied 12 for NCOE. Nate Massie led Hardin County with eight points.
