Pinckneyville knocks off state ranked Teutopolis

PINCKNEYVILLE — It was a busy day of hoops at Pinckneyville’s Duster Thomas Gymnasium–the eight game Panther Basketball Showcase. The finale featured the host Panthers taking on Teutopolis. The Wooden Shoes were ranked 8th in the latest Associated Press 2A Poll.

Karsen Konkel and AJ Keith combined for 24 points, 16 of those coming in the fourth quarter as the Panthers held off the Shoes 50-41. Konkel finished with 13 and was named game MVP.

Teutopolis led 10-9 after one quarter, but Pinckneyville came back to grab a 24-23 lead by half. The Panthers extended their advantage to five at 32-27 after a rugged third quarter before Konkel and Keith took over in the fourth.

In the earlier games at the Panther Showcase, Steeleville downed Christopher 51-46. It was Murphysboro over Greenville 51-27. Waltonville in overtime beat Chester 40-38. Aiden Parker scored 20 points and grabbed 21 rebounds as Robinson downed Meridian 76-58. Roderic Gatewood Junior poured in 30 for the Bobcats. Evan Noelle also scored 30 to lead Marion past Newton 68-47. Mascoutah slipped past Eureka 48-45, and Cruz Harlan scored 22 to lead Centralia past Triad 51-39.
