LaBotte in 2nd, Carterville makes cut at Girls State Bowling

ROCKFORD — While the contingent representing the 618 was not large at the Girls State Bowling Tournament in Rockford, many that made it did have very good opening days, led by Herrin junior Madyson LaBotte.

LaBotte is second individually after six games with 1315 pins, just eight behind the leader, Lani Breedlove from Oswego. LaBotte was very consistent, with four of her six scores between 228-235.

Vandalia freshman Macy Jones is seventh individually, 47 pins back. Freeburg’s Lauren Hunter is 94 pins back in 15th. Belleville East’s Julia Smith also made the cut. Smith is 19th, 125 pins back. Dupo’s Maddie Ehrhardt missed the cut by 14 pins, while Anna-Jonesboro’s Jaden Ebberts was 98 pins short.

As for the teams, Carterville was the 12th and final team to make the cut for day two. Led by junior Adriana Bird’s 1170 pins, the Lady Lions edged Lincoln-Way West by 19 pins to grab the final spot. Mascoutah (9th) and Collinsville (10th) also made the team cut.

Joliet West is your team leader with 5981 pins, 33 pins ahead of Minook and 45 ahead of Machesney Park (Harlem).

The teams and individuals making the cut will roll six more games Saturday starting at 9:00.
