Voting is now open and will run through midnight Friday for this week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week.
Here are the nominees:
Noah Arnold, Harrisburg: The junior tossed a complete game 3-hitter, striking out 13 in a win over Mahomet-Seymour. Arnold also was 1-1 at the plate with a double and a run scored.
Lilly Blagoue, Salem: The sophomore was 5-6 with 2 home runs, 6 RBIs, and 4 runs scored in 2 games. She also tossed a 5-hit shutout while striking out 11 in a 4-0 win over Triad.
Owen Cornett, Du Quoin: The senior went 7-13 with 2 doubles, 2 home runs, 4 RBIs, and 5 runs scored in 3 games.
Ty Doan, Carbondale: The senior was 5-7 in 2 games, including 3-4 with 2 doubles, a triple, and 5 RBIs against West Frankfort. He also picked up the win on the mound.
Shelby Grove, ZRC: The junior was 6-12 with a double, 2 home runs, 7 RBIs, and 8 runs scored to help the Tornadoes go 3-0 for the week.
Megan McNitt, Murphysboro: The junior scored 6 goals in 2 games helping the Red Devils to a pair of opening week wins. McNitt had a hat trick in each game and scored the game winner late to beat Mater Dei.
Aaron Sheffer, Anna-Jonesboro: The sophomore was 3-4 with 2 triples and 2 runs scored in 2 games. He also picked up the win on the mound with 4 shutout innings, allowing 1 hit while striking out 11 against Cobden.
Jersey Summers, Herrin: The junior was 6-8 with 2 doubles, a triple, a home run, 3 RBIs, and 7 runs scored to help the Tigers go 3-0 for the week.
