CARTERVILLE — Lacie Carr’s three run-scoring hits helped Carterville edge Johnston City 4-3 in a non-conference softball matchup.

All three of Carr’s RBI hits scored Amayah Doyle–a first inning double for the game’s first run, a third inning single to put Carterville up 2-0, and a fifth inning double that turned out to be the difference.

The Lady Indians scored two in the top of the fourth to tie it at 2-2. Then after Carterville regained the lead on Karson Caudill’s RBI single in the bottom of the fourth, Johnston City tied it up again in the fifth when Makenzie Mowery tripled and scored on Carsyn Clark’s RBI ground out. Carr then put Carterville back on top to stay with an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth.

Carterville freshman Caidence Phillips pitched a complete game for the win. Phillips retired the final eight batters she faced after Mowery’s fifth inning triple.
