Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week nominees

Voting is now open and will run through midnight Saturday for this week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week.

Here are the nominees:
Sarah Cook, Murphysboro: The junior was 12-19 with 5 home runs, 2 doubles, 15 RBI, and 11 runs scored. Cook hit 3 homers in a win over Herrin and drove in 7 in a win over West Frankfort.

Weston Hails, Webber: The senior won the long jump at the Foxes Invitational (19-9) and the Webber Invitational (19-5). Hails was also part of the winning 4×100 and 4×200 relays at both meets.

Jakob Koehn, Trico: The senior had 9 hits including 2 home runs and drove in 9 runs for the week. Koehn was 6-6 with a grand slam and 7 RBIs in a win over Marissa/Coulterville. He also pitched 6.2 innings for the week, striking out 13 and picking up a save.

Kayden McGee, Mt. Vernon: The senior was 6-10 with 3 RBIs, 4 stolen bases, and 6 runs scored helping the Rams to a 2-1 week.

Ella O’Brien, Carterville/Herrin: The senior scored 6 goals and added 2 assists to help the Lady Lions go 2-1 for the week. O’Brien tallied hat tricks against both Du Quoin and Massac County.

Caleb Smith, Salem: The junior won both the shot put (57-03) and the discus (167-02) at Sparta’s Buzz Bradley Invitational.

Bria Williams, Waltonville/Sesser-Valier: The senior was 10-17 with a double, a triple, 11 RBIs and 4 runs scored to help the Lady Spartans go 4-0 for the week.

Mia Wills, Benton: The senior won the 400M at the Don Webb Invitational (1:04.97) and the 800M at the Carmi-White County Invitational (2:43.80). Wills was part of the winning 4×400 team at the Webb Invite and the winning 4×400 and 4×800 teams at CWC.

Ruby Yates, Anna-Jonesboro: The sophomore was 3-1 for the week, allowing 4 earned run on 19 hits while striking out 28 in 27.2 innings. Yates held Carterville to 1 unearned run and also tossed a 3-hit shutout against Vienna.
