ZEIGLER — Junior Hayley Pasquino struck out 14 on the way to a 2-hit shutout to lead ZRC past Goreville 3-0, keeping the Tornadoes in sole possession of first place in the Black Diamond–West.

Leading 1-0 in the sixth inning, ZRC added some insurance on an RBI double by McKensie Jackson. Jackson later scored on a sacrifice fly by Skylar Hudson.

The Tornadoes may have scored even more, but a pair of sparkling plays by Goreville centerfielder Addison Harris kept it a 3-0 game.

The Blackcats got a leadoff single in the seventh, but Pasquino slammed the door shut, ending the game on back to back strikeouts.

ZRC improves to 16-2, 5-1 in the BDC West. Entering the final week of the conference season, the Tornadoes lead Johnston City by a game with two to play. Goreville falls to 17-8, 4-4 in conference play.
