CARBONDALE — Carbondale senior Eli Dyer’s fingerprints were all over the Terriers’ 10-0, six inning win over Marion. Dyer was dominant on the mound, tossing a 2-hit shutout, striking out 10. He was also 2-4 at the plate with a pair of runs batted in.

Carbondale took advantage of a couple of Marion errors to build a 5-0 lead, then put it way with a run in the fourth and four more runs in the bottom of the sixth to end it.

The Wildcats came into the day trying to remain alive in the hunt for a South Seven championship, trailing Mt. Vernon by a game with three conference games remaining. Instead, they wind up two games back with two to play.

Carbondale improves to 8-14, 4-4 in South Seven play. Marion falls to 16-10, 5-3 in the conference.
