Eldorado –The heat was on Friday night as the Eldorado Eagles kicked off their season with a hard fought 12-7 win at home over Black Diamond foe Edwards County.
The Eagles opened the game by marching 70 yards on 13 plays that chewed up all but 16 seconds of the 1st quarter clock.  QB Coltin Patrick punched the ball in from 4 yards out.  The 2 pt attempt failed but the Eagles had control 6-0.
Edwards County came right back down the field thanks to a 16 yard run by junior running back Drew Seibert which would ultimately give the Lions at 7-6 lead at the half.
After stopping the Lions on 4th and 2 from their own 32, the Eagles took over and scored the lone 2nd half score on a 6 yard run by Ashton Robinson with 1:40 left in the 3rd.
The Eagles defense stood strong in the 4th quarter, stopping Edwards County at the 5 yard line on 4th down and 4.  Eldorado took the ball and matched to the opposite 5 yard line and took a knee on the final 3 plays.
Junior RB Jake Phelps led Eldorado with 88 yards on 14 carries.  Edwards County dropped their 21st consecutive game.  Eldorado welcomes in Fairfield next week on 102.3 Lite FM WEBQ and the Eagles Channel on the Section618.com App.
