Centralia stuns Marion

The Centralia Orphans put together 4 solid quarters of football Friday night and beat the visiting Marion Wildcats 43-20 on Homecoming Night at Evers Field.
Marion would get on the board first after 36 yard TD reception by Patrick Walker, 2 point conversion failed and it was 6-0 Wildcats halfway through the opening quarter. It didn’t take long for the Orphans to answer as sophomore Mike Brown scored on a 4 yd run and it was 7-6 Centralia at the end of 1Q.
Marion would take a 12-7 lead after putting together a seventeen play drive that ended with a 1-yd TD from Logan Hoffman, the Wildcats would not score on their 2-point conversion. Centralia would put together a nice drive of their own, 12 plays, that ended with a 23-yd TD catch by Xavier Koch from QB Daryle Jones at the 2:45 mark of 2Q and it was 14-12 Orphans at the half.
Marion would start the second half with the football and after running 5:31 off the clock in the third, would get a 6-yd run from Britton Powell, 2 point conversion was good and it was 20-14 Marion. It was all Orphans after that, a minute 25 later Cam Tomlianovich would score on a 4-yd TD catch and it was 21-20 Centralia.
The Wildcats next possession didn’t last long as Darlye Jones would intercept a Marion pass, that would lead to a Jone 7-yd run and it was 28-20. QB Darlye Jones would score two more times, with runs of 9 and 1 yards.

Centralia QB Daryle Jones was 18/21 for 242 yds, 2 TD, 1 INT (he was 5-5 in the 4Q). Jones also ran the ball 20 times for 149 yards and 3 touchdowns.
RB Keaton Morgan had 19 carries for 128 yards, Mike Brown 5 rushes for 17 yds and 1 TD. WR Xavier Koch had another big night, 9 catches, 117 yds and TD, Cam Tomlianovich had 5 receptions for 86 yards and TD.
For Marion, Patrick Walker led the team with 140 total yards and a TD. The Wildcats are now 4-2 (1-2), the Orphans are 2-4 (1-1) and head to Cahokia Friday night.
