Congratulations to Mt. Vernon Cross Country! The boys and girls programs are this week’s WMIX Sports/Josh Finley Country Financial Rams of the Week! Both teams qualified for tomorrow’s (Sat., Oct. 28) Jacksonville Sectional after strong performances at the Class 2A Regional hosted by Olney.

The Lady Rams finished 6th qualifying the entire team after the following performances: 20. Iylie Harris (frosh) – 20:57.37; 33. Dazey Musgrae (soph) – 21:46.33; 37. Kennedy Bax (frosh) – 22:04.06; 47. Brynlee Thomason (senior) – 23:22.16; and 66. Bailee Pigg (junior) – 26:20.48! Raegan O’Neal (junior) and Riley Parrish (frosh) are also currently listed as sectional entries.

The Rams finished as runner up to Marion with 69 points. The entire team qualified with the following times: 7. Trey Mygatt (senior) – 16:19.59; 10. Caedmon Cook (senior) – 16:32.70; 13. Joel Hayes (soph) – 16:43.08; 19. Trace Elliott (soph) – 17:03.04; 20. Branden Etheridge (senior) – 17:04.19; 23. Eli Johnston (soph) – 17:12.65; and 35. Rowan Wilford (soph) – 17:38.35! Jordan Hofmann (soph), Jayden Jones (frosh), Alex Knappier (soph), and Carson Workman (soph) are also currently listed as sectional entries.
