Congratulations to the latest Josh Finley Country Financial Rams of the Week from WMIX Sports, Mt. Vernon Rams Wrestling! The Rams have now claimed back-to-back regional championships after taking the title at Marion last Saturday. The Rams scored 156 as a team which was 12 better than Marion’s 144 and 21 in front of 3rd place Waterloo at 135. The Rams advance to the Taylorville Dual Sectional on Feb. 20.

Individually, the Rams had 5 qualify for the sectional with 4 regional champions and a runner up! Regional Champions included: Dillon White at 138, Maddux Randall at 175, Mason Randall at 190, and Jhymear Smith-Henson at 215. Malakai Mays was a runner up at 157 to also qualify. Earlier this week the Rams found out another finalist was unable to participate so Jack Clark would advance at 113!

In addition to the 114 team points from Clark, White, Mays, the Randalls, and JSH, the Rams had additional help. Justin Hamilton (126 lbs) added 9 team points to the team score while Gavin Pedigo (132), Sean Harrigton (150), & Jesse Mills (285) added 11 points each. Jason Jackson (120), Gavin Gilliam (144), and Kyle Prince (165) also wrestled in Marion.

The top four finishers in each weight class will advance from the individual sectional to individual state! Those state finals are next weekend at State Farm Center in Champaign.

At the Taylorville Dual Sectional, the Rams must be one of the top 2 to advance to the Dual State Finals Feb. 23 & 24 in Bloomington.
