This week’s Josh Finley Country Financial Ram of the Week winners are the Mt. Vernon Rams and Lady Rams Cross Country Teams, who both captured first place at the Mt. Vernon Invitational on Tuesday, September 16 at home.
The Lady Rams secured the team title with 28 points, finishing ahead of Centralia (51), Marion (62), and Hamilton County (86). Salem participated but did not have a team score.
Top finishers for Mt. Vernon included:
- Kennedy Bax (JR) – 3rd place, 21:31.32
- Abbie Russell (JR) – 4th place, 21:52.00
- Lily Rains (SO) – 5th place, 22:30.32
- Iylie Harris (JR) – 7th place, 22:39.27
- Shelby Conner (FR) – 9th place, 23:06.03
Freshmen Marlowe Mygatt (13th, 24:09.65) and sophomores Lucy Kroeschen (27th, 28:17.32) and Daniya Musgrave (28th, 28:17.37) also contributed to the championship effort.
On the boys’ side, the Rams dominated the field with a near-perfect score of 21, finishing well ahead of Marion (40), Centralia (90), and Hamilton County (107). Salem participated but did not have a team score.
Leading the way were:
- Joel Hayes (SR) – 2nd place, 15:39.25
- Carson Workman (SR) – 3rd place, 15:44.47
- Trace Elliott (SR) – 4th place, 15:57.38
- Jayden Jones (JR) – 5th place, 16:09.12
- Liam Brandon (SO) – 8th place, 16:20.45
The Rams also stacked the top 10 with strong runs from Rowan Wilford (SR) in 9th (16:27.74) and Eli Johnston (SR) in 10th (16:44.41).
Other key contributors included:
