Senior Rayci Phelps is this week’s WMCL Fox of the Week, presented by Lynn Braden State Farm, after an outstanding showing at the Benton Rangerettes Christmas Classic, where she earned All-Tournament Team honors. The Lady Foxes finished 8th out of 14 teams in a highly competitive field.

Phelps opened the tournament with a strong all-around performance in a 65–59 opening-round win over Vienna, scoring 20 points while adding 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal to lead the Foxes.

In the quarterfinals, Hamilton County drew the tournament’s #1 seed, Civic Memorial, the eventual champion. Against elite competition, Phelps finished with 10 points and 5 rebounds.

The Lady Foxes then fell to Carbondale in the fifth-place semifinal, with Phelps contributing 9 points and 6 rebounds, before closing the tournament with a dramatic 7th-place game against Mt. Vernon.

In that final matchup, Phelps delivered her biggest performance of the weekend, posting a 28-point, 12-rebound double-double with 2 assists in a heartbreaker 52–51 loss. The Lady Foxes fought through multiple Mt. Vernon scoring runs and nearly tied the game late when Kalin Nichols knocked down a clutch shot that was ruled a two-pointer instead of a three.

With her leadership, consistency, and ability to shine on the big stage, Rayci Phelps continues to set the standard for Lady Foxes basketball — making her a well-earned Lynn Braden State Farm / WMCL Fox of the Week.
