A Historic Week for the Foxes: Ethan Kessler and Rayci Phelps Reach Major Milestones

It was a historic week for Hamilton County basketball, as two senior standouts reached career scoring milestones and etched their names into the record books.

Senior Ethan Kessler surpassed 1,000 career points on Wednesday, February 11 in a 51–42 win over the Harrisburg Bulldogs. Kessler reached the milestone in fitting fashion at the free throw line, calmly sinking the first shot to hit 1,000 and adding another to push his total to 1,001. The achievement highlights Kessler’s consistency and leadership for the Foxes throughout his career.

Just one night later, Senior Rayci Phelps delivered a performance for the history books. Facing the Benton Rangerettes on Thursday, February 12, Phelps entered the game sitting at 1,999 career points. With 2:18 left in the second quarter, she converted a layup following a steal by McKenna Casey to reach 2,001, becoming just the latest member of the elite 2,000-point club.

Phelps wasn’t finished. Late in the game, after another defensive play sparked by a Colebie Miller steal, Phelps scored again to reach 2,015 career points, officially becoming the all-time leading scorer in Lady Foxes history, surpassing Abby Rankin’s previous record of 2,014 career points.

Phelps already holds the school records for most points in a season and most points in a game (36), further cementing her legacy as one of the greatest players to ever wear a Hamilton County uniform.

Two seniors. Two milestones. One unforgettable week for Foxes basketball.
