Mt. Vernon Lady Rams Bowling
The Mt. Vernon Lady Rams Bowling team has been named the Josh Finley Country Financial / WMIX Sports Ram of the Week, an honor recognizing outstanding achievement, performance, and impact by Mt. Vernon student-athletes and teams.
The Lady Rams captured the IHSA Regional Championship on Saturday, February 7 at Herrin Bowl, delivering a dominant team performance to advance to the O’Fallon Sectional scheduled for Saturday, February 14.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Tom McPherson, Mt. Vernon rolled to a convincing victory with a team score of 5408, finishing well ahead of runner-up Herrin (4764) and a competitive regional field.
Individually, the Lady Rams placed three bowlers among the top four finishers:

Jayda VanMatre (Jr.) – 4th place with 1079, finishing just three pins out of third

The regional title continues a strong season for Mt. Vernon, as the Lady Rams now turn their focus to the sectional round with hopes of extending their postseason run.
