Lynn Braden State Farm / WMCL Fox of the Week: Clayton Henderson

The Lynn Braden State Farm / WMCL Fox of the Week honors a remarkable achievement this week, as Clayton Henderson brought home four gold medals at the Special Olympics Illinois Weightlifting Event in Bloomington on Sunday, March 22.

Henderson delivered a dominant performance, earning gold in Overall, Deadlift, Squat, and Bench Press, showcasing not only his strength but his dedication and work ethic in one of the most physically demanding sports in Special Olympics competition.

According to Special Olympics Illinois, powerlifting is a sport that tests more than just physical strength—it demands perseverance, discipline, and long hours of training. Athletes compete in divisions based on ability, age, gender, and weight class, ensuring fair and competitive opportunities for all participants.

In Illinois, athletes begin competition at regional qualifying events, with the opportunity to advance to the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games in Normal each June—one of the premier stages for these dedicated competitors.

Henderson’s four-gold-medal performance is a testament to his commitment and determination, representing his school and community with pride.

Congratulations again to Clayton Henderson, this week’s Lynn Braden State Farm / WMCL Fox of the Week!
