Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week nominees

Voting is now open and will run through midnight Friday for this week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week.

Here are the nominees:
Payton Allen, Fairfield: The senior went 7-0 last week, including 5-0 to win the 285 pound weight class at the Murdale Tournament. Allen set the school record for career wins and is the first Mule to win a title at Murdale.

Camron Ande, Harrisburg: The junior averaged 27 points and 9 rebounds over 3 games, including 31 points against Anna-Jonesboro and 12 rebounds against Benton, helping the Bulldogs to a 3-0 week.

Jerzy Bittle, Marion: The senior averaged 25 points and 7 rebounds over 3 games, including 31 points against Cahokia, helping the Lady Wildcats to a 3-0 week.

Jase Burkett, Woodlawn: The senior averaged 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals over 3 games, all Woodlawn wins. Burkett was named MVP of the MTC Tournament after helping the Lady Cardinals win the championship.

Roderic Gatewood Jr., Meridian: The senior broke his own school record by scoring 54 points in a win over Hardin County. He tied a school record with 9 3-pointers in the game. Gatewood Jr. followed that with 42 points to go with 4 rebounds and 4 steals in a win over Cahokia.

Isaac Hosman, Massac Co.: The junior averaged 22 points and 8 assists over 3 games helping the Patriots go 3-0 for the week. Hosman just missed a triple-double in the win over Benton with 24 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds.

Camrynn Howie, Chester: The senior was named MVP of the Lady Jacket Midwinter Classic. Howie average 14 points and 3 assists over 3 games to help the Yellow Jackets win the championship.

Tony Keene, Harrisburg: The junior went 5-0 with 5 pins to win the 120 pound weight class at the Murdale Tournament. Keene’s total match time of 9:15 was the second quickest in the tournament.

Robbie Rooker, Crab Orchard: The senior averaged 20 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals over 3 games to help the Trojans to a 3-0 week. Rooker surpassed 1000 career points in the win over Century.

Rider Searcy, Mt. Vernon: The senior went 5-0 with 5 pins, including the 100th pin of his career, to win the 145 pound weight class at the Murdale Tournament. Searcy’s total match time of 7:14 was the quickest in the tournament.
