Tony Wielt State Farm Showcase Impact Player

Rylie Hockett | Woodlawn Lady Cardinals | Sophomore

Woodlawn Lady Cardinals sophomore Rylie Hockett is this week’s Tony Wielt State Farm Showcase Impact Player after delivering a dominant return from injury during the final-ever Midland Trail Conference Tournament.

Hockett had missed nearly a month after suffering a collarbone injury but returned just in time for the conference tournament, which was hosted by Woodlawn at Sides Gymnasium. Hockett made an immediate impact coming off the bench in the semifinal round on Wednesday, January 7.

Hockett played key minutes in Woodlawn’s 62-37 win over the Webber Lady Trojans. She finished with 17 points, six rebounds, five steals, and one block, providing a spark on both ends of the floor.

Rylie followed that performance with another standout showing in the championship game on Thursday, helping the Lady Cardinals roll past the Red Hill Salukis 61-24. She recorded 18 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and two blocks in the title game.

For her outstanding performances throughout the tournament, Hockett was named Midland Trail Conference Tournament MVP. Her return helped propel Woodlawn to its seventh consecutive conference tournament championship, fittingly achieved in what marked the final Midland Trail Conference Tournament.

Hockett’s resilience, impact, and all-around play exemplified what it means to be a Tony Wielt State Farm Showcase Impact Player, making her performance one of the defining stories of the tournament.

The Showcase Impact Player honor highlights teams and/or athletes who make a difference beyond the box score during WMIX Sports Basketball Showcase coverage (includes Waltonville, Wayne City, Webber, Woodlawn, and Sesser-Valier) — and this week, the Rylie Hockett delivered in every way.
