The Mt. Vernon Rams Cheerleading Squad is this week’s Josh Finley Country Financial Ram of the Week from WMIX Sports, after an outstanding showing at the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association (ICCA) State Finals.

Competing at the Bank of Springfield Center during the weekend of January 10–11, the Rams earned 2nd Place in Large Team Varsity Game Day, finishing as one of the top cheer programs in the state. The event brought together the best squads from across Illinois, and Mt. Vernon rose to the occasion on the biggest stage.

In addition to the team’s success, senior Brenna Bejma delivered a championship-level performance of her own. Bejma finished as the runner-up in the ICCA Scholarship Competition, earning a $5,000 scholarship. The process included a submitted video and written application, with final results determined through an interview — highlighting not only athletic ability, but leadership, character, and academic excellence.

This weekend marked a celebration of teamwork, preparation, and dedication, as the Rams proudly represented Mt. Vernon both on the mat and beyond it.
