The Mt. Vernon Township High School FFA Chapter has earned recognition as this week’s Josh Finley Country Financial / WMIX Sports Ram of the Week after an outstanding showing at the Future Farmers of America District 5 Proficiency Awards held Tuesday, March 4.

The Rams had 11 members compete in the district competition, bringing home several top finishes and advancing multiple students to the state level.

Four Mt. Vernon students captured first-place finishes and will now advance to the Illinois FFA State Proficiency Awards:

• Jace Morris – Agricultural Processing

• Shaylen Rowland – Equine Science Entrepreneurship

• Lilian Dunaway – Human & Public Services SOE

• Timothy Westbrook – Information Technology SOE

The Rams also earned two second-place finishes:

• Morgan Payne – Fruit Production

• Tyler Curry – Outdoor Recreation

Additional Mt. Vernon competitors earning Honorable Mention recognition included:

• Madalynn Adams

• Tawneley Hall

• Kylie Snow

• Hannah Stuehlmeyer

• Ava Tate

The strong showing highlights the depth, dedication, and diverse agricultural skills within the Mt. Vernon FFA program. From agricultural processing and equine science to information technology and public services, the Rams demonstrated excellence across a wide range of career development areas.
