Josh Finley, Country Financial / WMIX Sports Ram of the Week
Trevor McClure – Rams Baseball
Junior Trevor McClure’s return to the lineup has already made a big impact for the Mt. Vernon Rams, as he earns Josh Finley Country Financial / WMIX Sports Ram of the Week honors.
After missing his entire sophomore season due to a knee injury, McClure has come back strong and showed exactly what he can bring to the Rams’ offense with an impressive week at the plate.
McClure was a consistent offensive presence across three games, helping the Rams secure wins over Salem and Champaign Central while staying competitive in a tough matchup against Washington.
In the Rams’ 11-1 victory over Salem, McClure went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs, setting the tone early. He followed that performance with a strong showing in a 2-1 win over Champaign Central, reaching base twice and collecting a hit.
Against Washington, McClure continued to produce, finishing 1-for-2 with an RBI and a double, accounting for one of the Rams’ key extra-base hits in the contest.
For the week, McClure posted impressive numbers:
- .667 batting average (4-for-6)
- .750 on-base percentage
- .833 slugging percentage
- 1.583 OPS
- 4 RBI and 6 times on base
His ability to consistently get on base and drive in runs has provided a major spark for the Rams’ offense—and his comeback from injury makes the performance even more impressive. With performances like this, McClure is quickly re-establishing himself as a key contributor as Mt. Vernon looks to build momentum moving forward this season. The Rams are currently 3-3 and will travel to Effingham tomorrow at 11 on WMIX-AM 940, 96.5 FM & Section618 App.
