Herrin wins boys bowling sectional, Harrisburg and A-J also state bound

COLLNSVILLE — The Herrin Tigers made it back to back championship Saturdays. After winning the Marion Regional title last Saturday, Herrin won the Collinsville Boys Bowling Sectional, beating Belleville East by 150 pins.

The Tigers will not be alone at next week’s state tournament in O’Fallon as Anna-Jonesboro and Harrisburg both advanced as well–they finished tied for third. This will be the Wildcats first trip to state in school history.

Lebanon’s William Nordmann was the individual champion. Herrin’s Jackson Vancil finished fourth individually, one pin ahead of Steeleville’s Nicholas Craig. Craig becomes the first bowler in Steeleville history to advance to state.

The state tournament will be Friday and Saturday at St. Clair Bowl in O’Fallon.
