It’s the game we all wanted to see in the spring–Fairfield and Johnston City. Both teams finished unbeaten in the spring, but due to the Covid-shortened season, the two teams did not play each other.
Five months later, and they two will finally meet in week 3 of the new season. The Mules have won 37 straight Black Diamond Conference games, a streak that dates back to Week 7 in 2016. Last week though, Fairfield trailed SVW 14-12 at the half, the first time since that loss in 2016 the team had trailed a BDC game at the half. The Mules rallied to win the game 34-20.
The Indians come in 1-1, with the loss coming in week 1 to Nashville, in a game that was added late due to Edwards County forfeiting due to Covid. The Indians bounced back nicely with a 55-0 win over Eldorado last night.
Kickoff will be at 7:00 in Johnston City. You can fully expect Ralph Davison Field will be rocking.
