Marion cruises past Cairo

MARION — The Marion Wildcats got back to the .500 mark, evening their record at 8-8 with a 78-52 win over Cairo Tuesday night at Cuss Wilson Gym.

After the Pilots had closed within six points late in the second quarter, the Wildcats scored the final four of the half to lead 33-23 at the break. Marion then outscored Cairo 28-12 in the third quarter to blow it open.

Venson Newsom led the Wildcats with 23 points. Evan Noelle added 15 and Rayzhaun Bardo 11. Daqauvion Mackins led Cairo with 22. Sheldon Adkinson added 17. The Pilots fall to 1-10.
