Anna-Jonesboro earns girls bowling regional championship

CARTERVILLE — The Anna-Jonesboro Lady Wildcats posted the day’s top two scoring games to close the opening session, then cruised to the Carterville Girls Bowling Regional championship at SI Bowl.

The Lady Wildcats finished with 5343 pins, 157 pins in front of another group of Lady Wildcats, these of the Salem variety. Herrin (5165) and Waterloo (5081) finished third and fourth to earn trips to the Mt. Vernon Sectional.

A-J’s Madi Hawk won the individual title with 1192 pins, a single pin better than Harrisburg’s Abbie Graham. Hawk’s teammate Olivia Myers had the day’s top individual game (244) and finished third. Carbondale’s Brooke Kochel was fourth with Herrin’s Faith Perry-Foster rounding out the top five.

In addition to the four teams, ten individuals not on those four teams also advance to the sectional. In addition to Graham and Kochel, the advancing group includes Paige Anderson (Steeleville), Taryn Russell (Carbondale), Karol Simmons (Harrisburg), Emily Swain (Carterville), Makayla Storment (Mt. Vernon), Adriana Bird (Carterville), Madison Eigenraugh (Carterville), and Isabella Middendorf (Steeleville).
