HARRISBURG — It’s a much different feeling for the Harrisburg Bulldogs when they walk onto Taylor Field. That feeling is turf beneath their feet.

The turf was installed earlier this summer. Coaches and players say they have already noticed a difference, even after just a few practices.

The new turf is only part of a major renovation to the Taylor Field Complex, which will now also be home to the Harrisburg soccer teams. A new track surface is scheduled to be installed in the next couple of weeks, and work continues on a brand new fieldhouse, which school officials say will not only be a major asset to the football team, but all sports as well as PE students.

The Bulldogs say the district and community’s support with the facility upgrades provides a great source of motivation.
They will open their season with a pair of road games–at East Alton/Wood River and at Du Quoin.

Harrisburg’s first varsity game on the new turf is scheduled for September 9th against Paris.
