Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week nominees

Voting is now open and will run through 4:00 Friday afternoon for this week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week.

Here are the nominees:
Lanie Carder, Flora: The senior won the singles title at the Centralia 1A Girls Tennis Sectional to earn a trip to State. Carder did not drop a set and only lost 3 games in 4 sectional matches.

Kalei Edson, Centralia: The junior tallied 53 kills, 6 blocks, and 9 aces to help lead the Annies to a 6-0 record for the week, clinching a share of the South Seven championship.

Hank Gomric, Althoff: The senior scored 3 goals and added an assist to help the Crusaders to pair of wins to capture the Murphysboro 1A Regional championship.

Taj Hodges, A-J/Cobden: The sophomore scored 5 goals including 3 game-winning goals in 3 games for the Wildcats.

Isaac King, Carmi-White Co.: The senior rushed 34 times for 249 yards and scored 2 touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 37-28 loss at Johnston City. It was King’s 10th career 200-yard game and 18th straight 100-yard game.

Skylar Moore, Carbondale: The junior won the singles title at the Herrin 1A Girls Tennis Sectional to earn a trip to State. Moore did not drop a set and only lost 7 games in 4 sectional matches.

Josh Owens, Eldorado: The senior totaled 144 yards (91 rushing/53 receiving) and scored 3 touchdowns in the Eagles’ 48-28 win over CZR.

Hunter Rhodes, Hamilton Co.: The senior totaled 281 yards (235 rush/46 receiving) and scored 4 touchdowns in the Foxes’ 74-30 win over Vienna/Goreville.

Blayne Sisson, Mt. Carmel: The junior was 12-12 passing for 305 yards with 4 touchdowns and rushed 20 times for 148 yards with 4 more touchdowns in the Aces’ 62-38 win over Woodstock Marian.

Isiah Watson, Johnston City: The senior rushed 18 times for 134 yards and scored 2 touchdowns in the Indians’ 37-28 win over Carmi-White County.
