HARRISBURG — It will be Waterloo and Marion squaring off for the Harrisburg 2A Boys Soccer Regional championship Saturday afternoon at Taylor Field.

The top-seeded Bulldogs built a 5-0 lead by halftime and cruised to a 6-0 win over over Anna-Jonesboro/Cobden in the first semifinal.

Harrisburg tried to make it an all Bulldogs final, but Wildcats’ senior Trenton Hutchinson had other ideas. Hutchinson’s first half hat trick accounted for all of Marion’s scoring, and senior goalkeeper Nehemiah Goodman made it stand several key saves in the second half.

Hutchinson put Marion on top in the seventh minute as Chase Banks set him up with a perfect lead pass, and Hutchinson buried it in the back of the net.

Harrisburg tied it in the 17th minute as Grant Wilson scored off a corner kick.

It did not remain tied for long, as Hutchinson scored again a minute later for a 2-1 Marion lead. Then Banks and Hutchinson connected again with Hutchinson burying the shot with 6.8 seconds left in the half to give the Wildcats a 3-1 lead.

Goodman and the Wildcats defense took care of the rest to earn a date in Saturday’s final, which is scheduled to start at 5:00.
