CENTRALIA – The Centralia Orphans hosted their first second round playoff game Saturday at Evers Field, but the Morris Redskins spoiled the day for the home team with a 56-0 rout.

The Redskins didn’t take long to get things going, scoring on their opening drive as Sam Reddinger found the end zone with a 21-yard touchdown run, the first of three scores for Reddinger on the day.

Morris’ leading rusher, Ashton Yard, made it 14-0 at the end of the opening quarter with the first of his two touchdown runs on the day. The 14 first quarter points for the Redskins marked the first time all season Centralia allowed first quarter points.

Morris blew the game open with four more touchdowns in the second quarter to lead 42-0 at halftime, and set up the continuous clock for the second half.

Following a scoreless third quarter, Morris tacked on two more scores in the fourth for the final margin of victory. The Redskins’ defense kept the Orphans offense in check, holding Centralia to 77 total yards. Morris finished the game with 348 total yards, 321 of those came on the ground.

Morris improves to 9-2 and will host top-seeded Mahomet-Seymour in the quarterfinals. The Orphans’ season comes to an end with a record of 6-5.
