Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week nominees

Voting is now open and will run through midnight Saturday for this week’s Orthopaedic Center of Southern Illinois Player of the Week.

Here are the nominees for the week of May 15-20:

Emma Behrmann, Nashville: The freshman medaled in 2 events at the Girls 1A State Track and Field championships, finishing sixth in triple jump (10.60m) and seventh in the long jump (5.11m).

Malik Jones, Du Quoin: The senior won the 100m (11.11), the 200m (23.05), and was part of the Indians’ 4x100m winning relay team at the Webber 1A Boys Track and Field Sectional.

Andrew Martin, Centralia: The sophomore went 4-0 to win the Centralia 1A Boys Tennis Sectional singles championship.

Chris Nelson, Herrin: The sophomore won the 100m (10.62), the 200m (21.64) and was part of the Tigers 4x100m and 4x200m winning relay teams at the Salem 2A Boys Track and Field Sectional.

Malia Roye, Marion: The senior scored 6 goals in the Lady Wildcats two regional wins, 4 against Harrisburg and 2 including the game winner the :37 to play against Carbondale in the championship.

Grant Schleifer, Okawville: The senior won the 1600m (4:43.16) and the 3200m (10:03.32) with a PR at the Nashville 1A Boys Track and Field Sectional.

Caleb Smith, Salem: The junior won the shot put (18.15m) with a PR and the discus (53.5m) at the Salem 2A Boys Track and Field Sectional.

Keegan Weber/Mike Cagle, Herrin: The Tigers duo went 6-0 last week, including 4-0 to win the Centralia 1A Boys Tennis Sectional doubles championship.
