WOODLAWN — Multi-sport Woodlawn standout Lauren Harris signed with McKendree Wednesday to play multiple sports–volleyball and softball.

Harris has been named Midland Trail Conference Player of the Year in both sports (four times in volleyball) and owns numerous school records including career kills in volleyball (1434) and career home runs in softball (26) to go along with single season records for batting average (.632), hits (60), homers (15), and runs scored (60).

This past volleyball season she ranked in the top five in the state regardless of class for kills (482) and hitting percentage (.431).

Harris says the chance to play both sports and to do so close to home was a major factor in her decision. She plans to major in biology, with the long-term goal of being a physician’s assistant.
